Charlotte Construction Workers Urge City Council to Act on Reported Industry Abuses

People harmed while working in Charlotte’s booming construction industry joined community, faith, and labor advocates and the co-authors of a new study of industry working conditions across the South on Monday to call for the city council to pass policy that would encourage developers to disclose their contractors’ employment practices as part of future rezoning petitions.

Community to Honor 150 People Who Died on the Job in 2015

Local workers, labor and faith leaders, and surviving family members will gather Friday morning on the grounds of the Old State Capitol in Raleigh for a Workers’ Memorial Day service to honor 150 people known to have died while working for a better life in 2015 and to call on NC Department of Labor Commissioner Cherie Berry to do more to prevent workplace injuries and fatalities.
