The NC State AFL-CIO delivered four pallets of food donated by the Food Bank and sorted into 500 "weekend packs" to Ligon Middle School in Raleigh for distribution by Wake County teachers to students in need across Wake County today.

Community to Honor 174 People Who Died on the Job in 2016

Local workers, labor and faith leaders, and family members will gather Friday morning on the grounds of the Old State Capitol in Raleigh for an annual interfaith Workers’ Memorial Day service to ring a bell 174 times in remembrance of the 174 people known to have died on the job in 2016 -- 24 more than the year before -- and to call on the N.C. Department of Labor to do more to prevent workplace fatalities.

Striking Workers Rally Over Abuses by NCDOT Contractor Border Rebar

Clergy, members of community & civic organizations, labor advocates, public servants, and private citizens held a sidewalk rally with striking Border Rebar workers outside the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) this afternoon to draw attention to dangerous and abusive working conditions at one of its contractors, Border Rebar, and to call on the Department to meet and discuss implementing responsible contractor policies.

Striking Workers to Rally Outside NCDOT Over Abuses by One of Its Contractors

Striking workers who have been injured and abused on the job will hold a sidewalk rally outside North Carolina Department of Transportation headquarters on Monday, Feb. 12th, to draw attention to dangerous and abusive working conditions at one of its contractors, Border Rebar, and to call on the Department to meet and discuss implementing responsible contractor policies.
