March for justice and fairness

In today’s economy, low-wage jobs in the United States are becoming increasingly prevalent. More than four million Americans already working in fast food, and available jobs in the booming low-wage service industries will continue to grow exponentially.

According to the National Employment Law Project, low-wage jobs have comprised 58 percent of recovery growth since the recession. While middle-class jobs are disappearing at an accelerated rate, low-wage jobs are growing, and the divide between the haves and the have-nots is only growing worse.

With corporate profits for low-wage service industries like fast food at an all-time high - McDonald's raked in about $5.5 billion in profits last year alone - workers all over the country in retail, in fast food, at Walmart and other industries, have begun to stand up to demand a living wage.

Now the movement is spreading to North Carolina!

These workers are fighting for all of us, and they need our support to win.

Please come to Martin St Baptist Church (1001 E Martin St in Raleigh) at 3:30 pm on August 29 to show your solidarity with low-wage workers fighting for a living wage. There will be a rally at 3:30 pm followed by a march for justice and fairness.
