Urgent Appeal for Strike Assistance for W369
Situation is critical for many strikers at Moncure Plywood
July 20, 2008 – union members of IAMAW Lodge W369 go on strike at Moncure Plywood. Six months later the company has done everything it can to avoid negotiating a fair contract for its workers, including hiring replacements.
Walking a picket line this long is finally taking its toll as many workers face the prospect of losing everything – including their homes.
Even if you have given to the strike fund, please make another contribution. This is an urgent appeal for your support of our brothers and sisters in Moncure, NC, who are suffering greatly.
You can make a contribution by sending a check to:

We live in a democracy and a nation of laws, as you know. No peace means that the company doesn’t get to pretend it’s business as usual while its workers suffer. When Moncure Plywood allows a noose to hang on its property just inside the plant gate so strikers can see it from the picket line or when it abruptly cancels meetings to negotiate an end to the now 7-month-long strike as if playing games, we will not let their actions go unnoticed by the rest of the world. We will continue to picket outside the plant, write letters to Moncure Plywood’s customers, pursue legal relief in the courts, and speak out in our churches and community meetings against the ongoing injustice perpetrated by a company that would rather destroy a union than agree to a contract no less fair to its employees than the contract it signs with executives at Atlas Holdings, LLC.
