Bless her heart... "We don't have unions"

Speaking at the South Carolina Auto Show to a reporter with the Greenville News, Gov. Nikki Haley said unionized companies are not welcome in South Carolina - even if they are going to bring good-paying jobs with them:

REPORTER: "So if a company is unionized and they're gonna bring jobs here, you're gonna tell them not to come?"

GOV. HALEY: "I'd discourage it."

How's that for stupid?

Gov. Haley would rather have no new jobs come to South Carolina if they would be good-paying union jobs. If you think that's as outrageous as we do, please like and share this video on Facebook.

Union members earn better wages and benefits than workers who aren't union members.

On average, union workers’ wages are 27 percent higher than their nonunion counterparts. They are 60 percent more likely to have employer-provided pensions. More than 85 percent of union workers have jobs that provide health insurance benefits compared to only 54 percent of nonunion workers who do.

Unions help bring workers out of poverty and into the middle class. In fact, in states where workers' union rights aren't respected - states like North and South Carolina, workers’ incomes are lower. All the more reason we have to Organize the South!
