North Carolina Union Members Knock 84,000 Doors Ahead of Election Day, Surpassing 2024 Efforts
Labor's statewide voter mobilization program also makes 124,000 calls and sends 81,000 texts to turn out working-class voters.
RALEIGH, NC — The North Carolina State AFL-CIO announced that union members, in their member-to-member program, knocked 84,000 doors, made 124,000 calls, sent 81,000 texts, and recorded 27,000 voter contacts leading up to the polls closing today. The door-knocking effort surpassed the federation's 2024 total. Additionally, several affiliates ran independent campaigns reaching hundreds of thousands of other voters across North Carolina.
Union member volunteers held powerful worker-to-worker conversations on front porches and at worksites to hear from voters about core concerns, discuss the platforms of labor-endorsed candidates, and urge them to make their voices heard at the ballot box. In an election where affordability and the cost of living crisis were top of mind for many voters, the affiliated labor unions of the North Carolina State AFL-CIO were uniquely positioned to mobilize working people.
Additional Congressional District Outreach:
- NC-01: 6,000 doors, 28,000 calls, 3,000 contacts
- NC-09: 10,000 doors, 12,000 calls, 3,000 contacts
- NC-11: 4,000 doors, 5,000 calls, 2,000 contacts
The labor movement’s mobilization will continue in the days and weeks ahead to ensure that every legal vote is counted and the will of the people is upheld.
NC AFL-CIO President Braxton Winston is available for election-night interviews. To schedule an interview, contact Jeremy Sprinkle at [email protected] or Hailey Allen at [email protected].
