North Carolina’s Labor Movement Welcomes President Biden and Vice President Harris to Raleigh

Raleigh, NC - The North Carolina State AFL-CIO welcomes President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as they visit Raleigh today for a campaign event. The Biden Administration’s pro-worker policies have been transformative for so many families in our state. Through programs like the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and American Rescue Plan funding, President Biden is investing billions to lower costs for working families, connect more households, businesses, and schools with high-speed internet access, and create quality, union construction and manufacturing job opportunities here in North Carolina.

With the 14th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act just days ago, the stakes of November’s election are clearer than ever for North Carolinians. When Governor Cooper approved adoption of the ACA’s Medicaid expansion last year, an estimated 600,000 people across the state were newly eligible for quality healthcare. For many working families, that life-changing coverage was the first time they could afford critical prescription medications and much-needed medical treatment. Defending Medicaid and protecting the ACA are core priorities for the Biden-Harris Administration because they know every worker deserves quality, affordable care.

The NC State AFL-CIO will continue to organize around the clock and across the state to re-elect the most pro-union president in American history so his administration can keep delivering real, meaningful victories for working people.
