Workers in the other 99% will picket Rep. Sue Myrick to remind her that “America Wants to Work” at 1pm Monday, October 10, 2011

Charlotte, N.C.– Columbus Day is the start of a nationwide week of action to urge Rep. Sue Myrick and other members of Congress to quit playing defense for the top 1% and start working for the rest of us by passing the American Jobs Act and HR 1351.  We will once again rally in Charlotte to demand Sue Myrick focus on what matters: our jobs crisis!  Our economy is crying out for bold solutions to put Americans back to work and rebuild our country, but Sue Myrick doesn’t appear to be listening.

Since our September 27 rally to save America’s postal service, Rep. Myrick has still not signed onto HR 1351, a bill that would prevent thousands of additional job losses that North Carolina’s economy cannot afford.  So on Monday, we will return to Rep. Myrick’s district office in Charlotte and picket to remind her that her duty is to the people of North Carolina, not Bank of America, Wall Street, and her big-money backers in the top 1%.

America wants to work.  Businesses want workers who can afford to buy their goods and services.  Who wants politicians like Sue Myrick standing in the way?  Not the other 99%!

What: Rally and picket in support of the American Jobs Act and HR 1351

When: Monday, October 10, 2011 from 1:00 to 2:00pm

Where: Sue Myrick’s Congressional Office, 6525 Morrison Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28211

Why: Rep. Myrick has the power to help put America back to work and avoid more job losses, if only she would use it.

Who: National Association of Letter Carriers, American Postal Workers Union, Southern Piedmont Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, and more.
