Protect Our Future - Round 2 (FIGHT!)
A week of action in North Carolina
Another showdown looms on the horizon in Washington as the Tea Party-controlled Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives continues its reckless crusade to stonewall any reasonable legislation to fix the economy. It’s another manufactured crisis, and Republicans are holding the U.S. economy hostage.
Middle class families are fighting back and telling Congress to:
- Oppose benefit cuts to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid
- Close loopholes for Wall Street and the richest 2% of Americans and cancel sequestration
All next week, we will be mobilizing at congressional district offices across the nation to keep the spotlight on our federal representatives and senators to remind them they work for US and not the richest 2%!
Tell Congress to fix the economy!

Some members of Congress want to cut Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and other vital services for working families instead of closing wasteful loopholes for corporations and CEOs. They would rather tank the economy than tell Wall Street’s Big Banks to pay their fair share in taxes. Wall Street tore our economy apart. Now we need every member of Congress standing with us to make sure the Big Banks aren't rewarded for it—at our expense! That's why we are teaming up with the NC Alliance for Retired Americans (ARA) for a week of actions in central and western North Carolina. Can't attend one of these meetings? You can still help! Call your member of Congress at 1-888-659-9401. Click here to download a flyer and make some phone calls. On Tuesday, Feb. 19 - tell it to Rep. George Holding Freshman U.S. Representative George Holding (R-13) needs to hear a different point of view about protecting our earned benefits and canceling reckless budget cuts, so we will be bringing it to him at his office in Raleigh. What: Meeting with Rep. George Holding When: Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 9:00 AM Where: 3725 National Dr. Suite 101, Raleigh, NC, 27612Click here to RSVP for the meeting with Rep. Holding. On Thursday, Feb. 21 - share it with Sen. Kay Hagan Senator Richard Burr is on the wrong side of working families when it comes to protecting the programs that protect us and making Wall Street share in the sacrifice he for a change, but our other senator, Kay Hagan, has at least been responsible enough to declare that Social Security doesn't add one dime to our deficit. Let's urge her to stand strong for her constituents. What: Meeting with Sen. Kay Hagan When: Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 10:30 AM Where: 310 New Bern Ave., Raleigh, NC 27601Click here to RSVP for the meeting with Sen. Hagan. On Friday, Feb. 22 - preach it to Rep. Mark Meadows Another newly elected U.S. Representative from North Carolina, Mark Meadows (R-11), will have the opportunity to hear from folks who want him to keep the promise of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid and to stop creating artificial crises like sequestration that threaten our economic recovery at his office in Hendersonville. What: Meeting with Rep. Mark Meadows When: Friday, February 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM Where: 200 N Grove St., Hendersonville, NC 28792Click here to RSVP for the meeting with Rep. We hope you will join one of these actions next week - either the in-person meetings or by at least making some phone calls. We are going to keep this up until Congress finally gets the message - work for the good of ALL of your constituents and not Wall Street or just the wealthy.
