Occupy Wall Street goes global

What's happening is real, and not just on Wall Street but in nearly 1000 cities and towns all over our country. Americans want Wall Street held accountable for what they did to our economy. We want good jobs and an end to raging inequality. We want our democracy back.

That's why bus drivers, nurses, construction workers and so many other working people are part of these protests. We are all the 99 percent and we are standing together to restore our voices in cities all across the country this fall, just as we did in Madison, Wisconsin this spring. But the Occupy Together movement is only the latest in a year of global unrest.

United for #GLOBALCHANGE

From 15october.net:

On October 15th people from all over the world will take to the streets and squares.

From America to Asia, from Africa to Europe, people are rising up to claim their rights and demand a true democracy. Now it is time for all of us to join in a global non violent protest.

The ruling powers work for the benefit of just a few, ignoring the will of the vast majority and the human and environmental price we all have to pay. This intolerable situation must end.

United in one voice, we will let politicians, and the financial elites they serve, know it is up to us, the people, to decide our future. We are not goods in the hands of politicians and bankers who do not represent us.

On October 15th, we will meet on the streets to initiate the global change we want. We will peacefully demonstrate, talk and organize until we make it happen.

It’s time for us to unite. It’s time for them to listen.

The Occupation in Raleigh begins at 11:00am tomorrow on the North Carolina State Capitol grounds, and NC State AFL-CIO will be there.

In Durham, Triangle Labor Council President, Michael Gravinese, will address the Occupy Durham General Assembly, which begins at 3:00pm.

In Asheville, Western NC CLC President Mark Case has been working with the City to secure a safe space for the Occupiers there.

Wherever you are, whatever you're doing, support this growing movement to hold Wall Street accountable and end corporate corruption of our government!

Here are the details we have for Occupations in North Carolina so you can get involved. If we need to update this information, please let us know.

The NC State AFL-CIO stands in solidarity with Occupy Wall St and the Occupy Together movement. We are the other 99%, and we have had enough. Let the corporate spin masters ridicule us. With every contemptible word, they expose their true colors for all the world to see:
