Join the March 25 March to the Statehouse
End corporate corruption of our politics
Back in December, the Occupy Wall Street-allied group, Occupy Walkers (aka Walkupy), who were then on a 700-mile journey from New York City to Atlanta, stood at the lunch counter in the former Greensboro Woolworth's, now the International Civil Rights Museum.
There Occupy invoked the memory of youth activists from a different generation - the Greensboro Four - who, in deciding to "occupy" a lunch counter in 1960, began the non-violent sit-in movement that would eventually lead to the end of violent racial segregation.
The time has come, they said, for the 99 percent movement in every state to march to our statehouses and demand an end to institutionalized corporate control of our government. March 25, 2012 is the date, and in North Carolina, Raleigh is the place.

Today, the United States is in the grips of another kind of violence - the structural violence of income inequality and seemingly-unlimited power concentrated in the hands of mega-corporations and the mega-rich. It's a rigged system, said the Occupy Walkers in their call-to-action, one "by which corporations dominate our society and our democracy."
