Help Stamp Out Hunger this Saturday! (5/8)
Letter Carrier Food Drive at your mailbox
The annual National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) National Food Drive (a.k.a. Stamp Out Hunger) comes at a critical time. Donations to food banks are down while demand is higher than ever.
You can help, and it's easy to do. Just place a box or can of non-perishable food next to your mailbox before the letter carrier delivers mail on Saturday. The carrier will do the rest. The food is taken back to a postal station, sorted and delivered by union volunteers to area food banks or pantries for needy families to access.
What: 2010 Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive
When: This Saturday, May 8
Where: Your mailbox and mailboxes across America
Last year, 73.4 million pounds of food they collected in the one-day drive helped to feed an estimated 30 million people who face hunger every day in America, including more than 12 million children. Putting as little as a single can of soup at your mailbox this Saturday will make a difference for these families.
Please publicize and promote the May 8, 2010 food drive among your friends, family, co-workers, and members. For more information, visit the Stamp Out Hunger web site (http://www.helpstampouthunger.com/). Thank you in advance for supporting the National Association of Letter Carriers' Food Drive!
