GREENSBORO, N.C. – This Monday, September 1 at 12 noon outside Greensboro’s Beloved Community Center, after a weekend during which people of faith will have spoken up for labor unions in over 30 worship services across North Carolina as part of the first-annual “Labor Sabbath” effort, a fast food worker with Raise Up for 15 will join a member of Working America for a press conference with NC NAACP President and leader of the Forward Together Movement Rev. William Barber and NC State AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer MaryBe McMillan. The conference is the second stop of a three-city tour on Labor Day that will highlight how North Carolina workers are finding hope to raise wages and defend workers’ rights in difficult economic and political times by taking collective action through labor unions, alt-labor organizations, and Moral Monday. The #TalkUnion Tour will kick-off in Raleigh and end in Charlotte for a massive Moral Monday Labor Day rally.
