Tell Congress: Bring home the jobs!

Because America Wants to Work

It’s past time for our leaders to support investing in America and rebuilding our nation. Creating jobs here starts with a commitment to the future, strong policy decisions and the leadership to make it happen.

The closure of more than 50,000 manufacturing facilities, the loss of nearly 6 million manufacturing jobs and chronic trade deficits are troubling signs of our nation’s diminished industrial and creative capability.

Offshoring poses much the same threat to our service economy. Workers from a range of professions, including call centers, professional services and aircraft maintenance, as well as computer engineers, administrative services, health care and more, have seen their jobs leave.

It's time for Congress to get its act together, which is why we are promoting legislative action on an agenda that will help keep and create good jobs here at home.

In July, the Senate will take up legislation—the Bring Jobs Home Act (S. 2884)—to stop the practice of providing tax incentives to companies that outsource jobs and to offer tax credits to those that return jobs to the United States. We want to highlight this issue and our broader agenda with public events in front of politicians’ offices and corporations to call on them to address whose side they are on when it comes to the outsourcing of jobs.

Take Action online to protect American jobs

U.S. trade representatives are negotiating the biggest trade agreement in U.S. history. We must make sure this agreement keeps and creates good jobs in the United States and does not encourage outsourcing.

To make sure this trade agreement works for working families and creates and protects jobs in the United States, we’re delivering an emergency petition from working families on July 8 in San Diego during the next round of the TPP FTA negotiations.

Sign our petition now to urge President Obama and U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk to negotiate a trade policy that creates good jobs in the United States, ensures all levels of government can Buy American, protects workers’ rights and stops foreign corporations from skirting U.S. laws to help their bottom line.
