We are excited to announce the return of ADVANCED Labor School, Tuesday, April 4th through Thursday, April 6th at Teamsters Local 391 in Raleigh! Registration is open to Carolina Labor School alumni and local union leaders only, and space will be limited to 40 students who register by March 24th.
Approximately 75 members from unions of working people across North Carolina – including letter carriers and auto workers, glass makers and pipefitters, steelworkers, bus operators, airport workers, and others – formed the Class of 2022 at Carolina Labor School held at UNC Wilmington last week.
After taking two years off due to the pandemic, we are excited to announce that Carolina Labor School will return to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington this July 17-22, 2022!
Advanced Labor School is for graduates of Carolina Labor School and local union leaders who want a deeper understanding of labor law, workers’ compensation, collective bargaining, FMLA, grievances and arbitration, and duty-of-fair-representation in a “right-to-work” state.
Carolina Labor School will return Sunday, July 21 for 6 days of labor education, skill building, and solidarity bonding at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Registration is open to members of any NC State AFL-CIO affiliate.

NC State AFL-CIO’s annual summer camp for union members will be held at UNC Wilmington June 26 through July 1st – a little earlier than usual this year. Also new for 2016 is a cap of 80 students, first-come, first-served and a waiting list once all slots are taken. The deadline to pre-register and guarantee space is Friday, June 17.
We held an Advanced Labor School in Raleigh last week, the first in over a decade, to give Carolina Labor School, grads a deeper understanding of labor law, collective bargaining, FMLA, duty of fair representation in a so-called “right to work” state, and more.
The Class of 2015 was the largest class in several years, a sign that AFL-CIO affiliates in North Carolina are taking seriously the challenge, opportunity, and necessity for unions to educate, agitate, and organize the South.

The North Carolina State AFL-CIO Carolina Labor School will be held at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington on July 14-19, 2013. New for 2013 is a 20% discount on tuition and fees for registered Labor School students aged 28 and younger.
