Southern Piedmont Central Labor Council, representing thousands of union members in the greater Charlotte area, has endorsed Alma Adams in her bid to represent working people in North Carolina’s newly-redrawn 12th Congressional District. Early voting for the June 7 primary election runs from May 26 to June 4.
“We are at the end of the second quarter and the score is tied 1-1,” said AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. “We look forward to the third and fourth quarters.”
Rep. Adams listened as her constituents talked about how no “free trade” agreement, no matter how terrible for American workers or consumers or our democracy itself, has ever been defeated once given “fast track” status. The TPP would be the worst such agreement yet, and Rep. Adams pledged to stand with her constituents against both “fast track” and the TPP.
The North Carolina Triad chapter of Jobs with Justice has organized a special weekend celebration of International Women’s Day. Speakers at the event, which will be held Sunday, March 11 at the CWA Local 3607 union hall, include State Representative Dr. Alma Adams and Elizabeth Freeze of Greensboro Planned Parenthood.
