Striking Workers to Rally Outside N.C. D.O.T. Over Abuses by One of Its Contractors

“Our state needs the infrastructure work done, but at what cost?”

RALEIGH, NC – Striking workers who have been injured and abused on the job will hold a sidewalk rally outside North Carolina Department of Transportation headquarters on Monday, Feb. 12th, to draw attention to dangerous and abusive working conditions at one of its contractors, Border Rebar, and to call on the Department to meet and discuss implementing responsible contractor policies.

“We’ve raised the issue of our tax dollars being spent on unethical companies like Border Rebar,” says Alexis Gonzalez, who walked off the job in July, “y​et D.O.T. continues to allow Border on their taxpayer-funded projects.​ Our state needs the infrastructure work done, but at what cost?"

What​: ​A rally with workers, their families, and community members to raise awareness with the public about the continued use of an abusive contractor, Border Rebar, on D.O.T. funded projects
