STATEMENT FROM JAMES ANDREWS, NC STATE AFL-CIO, ON NOMINATION OF DEBO ADEGBILE TO LEAD U.S. JUSTICE DEPARTMENT’S CIVIL RIGHTS DIVISION
“The American people need true advocates for justice now more than ever.”

RALEIGH, N.C. (March 5, 2014) – The U.S. Senate’s failure to move forward on the confirmation of Debo Adegbile is an affront to the American people who need true advocates for justice now more than ever.  As a top respected civil rights lawyer who has dedicated his career to upholding justice and integrity, Mr. Adegbile is the best choice to lead the Civil Rights Division at the U.S. Justice Department.  The partisan attacks on this extremely qualified nominee are nothing short of shameful, and the people of North Carolina deserve better.
