Because lower wage workers pay more of their income in taxes than the richest North Carolinians, just making ends meet is a challenge. That's where the Earned Income Tax Credit comes in. The credit puts money back into the pockets of working families who need it most. In 2009, it brought more than $52 million to our local economies and helped clear roadblocks to prosperity for nearly half a million people in North Carolina.
