Fast food workers and their supporters in cities across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia rose up last week, joining strikes and rallies in more than 100 cities nationwide.

Workers at McDonald’s, Burger King, and other fast food restaurants who know they cannot survive on $7.25 and are tired of working hard and hardly getting by – many still having to rely on public assistance to make ends meet – and have finally reached their resistance point.

 

At actions in Durham, Greensboro, Charlotte, and Raleigh, fast food workers and community members stood up to demand $15 an hour and the right to form a union without retaliation. Hear what that sounded like inside a McDonald’s in Durham:
