Powerful video should give lawmakers pause
Unemployment benefits help workers who lose jobs through no fault of their own and cannot find new employment. These benefits also help stabilize the economy and are particularly important in tough economic times.
On January 30, 2013, Republican state legislators introduced an extreme and misguided bill to cut North Carolina's unemployment insurance program.
We interviewed six North Carolinians to record their stories of life on unemployment. They told us a powerful story that should give pause to any lawmakers pushing these cuts. May they be heard.
