Our Fight Continues to Build A Better Future for North Carolina’s Working Families

“We congratulate Wiley Nickel, whose election to the U.S. House of Representatives in District 13 is a win for working people," says North Carolina State AFL-CIO President MaryBe McMillan

“Even though the statewide races did not go the way we had hoped tonight, our mission to build a labor movement that will win victories for North Carolina’s working families continues, and we thank Justice Beasley and all our endorsed candidates for joining us in this fight.

"We also extend a special appreciation to our union family members who spent the last few months mobilizing for this election. Together, North Carolina’s labor movement knocked on 63 thousand doors, doubling our outreach efforts from 2018 and helping to elect seven pro-worker members of Congress and to prevent an anti-worker supermajority in the state house.”

“The effort we’ve seen from North Carolina’s union members to mobilize for pro-worker candidates has been an inspiring reaffirmation of our movement’s dedication to protecting the rights and freedoms of working families nationwide,” says AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler. “With new challenges ahead, we are going to keep fighting tomorrow and every day after.”
