Cheri Beasley, NC State AFL-CIO President MaryBe McMillan Release Statement In Honor of Labor Day

RALEIGH: Today, candidate for U.S. Senate Cheri Beasley and NC State AFL-CIO President MaryBe McMillan shared the following statements commemorating Labor Day:

“Today we take the time to acknowledge and thank the working people in our country who are the backbone of our economy. North Carolinians across this state are working hard to care for their families and keep our state moving forward, and I promise to continue fighting alongside you,” said Cheri Beasley. “As a proud retired union member I’m headed to the Senate ready to stand every day with workers to strengthen training and apprenticeship programs, raise wages, and secure workers’ rights.”

“Labor Day this year comes at a time when increasing numbers of working people across North Carolina are standing together in unions to demand respect for hard work and the freedom to thrive,” said MaryBe McMillan. “With midterm elections fast approaching, now is the time to mobilize to elect pro-worker champions who will fight for an economy that works for us all. That’s why we’re fighting to elect Cheri Beasley, a retired card-carrying member of the Service Employees International Union, to the U.S. Senate. Cheri’s advocacy for better wages, safe workplaces, and the free and fair ability to unionize is what we need to meet this moment, both here in the Tar Heel state and in the halls of Capitol Hill.”
