Final stop on the "Why Democracy Matters" Tour

Since early this year, a public forum hosted by us, North Carolina Voters for Clean Elections, the Institute for Southern Studies, Democracy North Carolina, NC NAACP, and others has toured cities and towns from Asheville to Greenville seeking and sharing answers to the question "Why does democracy matter to you?".

Challenges to voting rights, growing special interest influence, and politically motivated redistricting have created barriers to participation and diminished the voice of ordinary voters in their own democracy. However, recent voting rights victories leading to the repeal of voter photo ID and the return of same-day voter registration during one-stop early voting and the pre-registration of 16 and 17-year-olds may signal a turning point.

Come celebrate these victories for our democracy on the day early voting begins! Join us for a beer and help plan our next steps to ensuring our democracy is truly of, by, and for the people.
