In fighting reforms, Big Business shows it's darkest side

On the November 11 airing of The Rachel Maddow Show, Maddow highlights a report by David Sirota about an article in the insider, Washington, DC publication Inside U.S. Trade in which business groups reveal they're not worried just about potential Wall St reforms:

Business groups are worried by the potential effects of provisions banning the import of all goods made with convict labor, forced labor, or forced or indentured child labor that were included in a customs bill sponsored by Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) and Ranking Member Charles Grassley (R-IA)...

Business sources say [the bill] could cause DHS to more actively seek out imported products made with child labor, forced labor or convict labor.

We wouldn't want multinational corporations not to have to use slavery to make their products, would we? Actually, yes we would, but the business lobby hopes to avoid a public relations nightmare by lobbying against these regulations in secret.

Rachel Maddow, for one, isn't going to let this go unnoticed. Roll the tape (the slavery bit begins at 3:15):
