A.P.R.I. is Calling to Get Out the Vote
Participation is key for non-partisan phone bank
The North Carolina A. Philip Randolph institute wants to remind you that somebody paid the price for your right to vote. In every election, when voters cast their ballots, they honor those whose struggle and sacrifice made greater participation in the electoral process possible. But while participation at the polls is the ultimate goal, your participation in programs to Get Out The Vote is essential.
Volunteers at the North Carolina headquarters of the APRI in Raleigh have been on the phones since late last month, logging over 381 hours and making over 6,400 calls to-date to voters in North Carolina’s two most populous counties – Wake and Mecklenburg. Some of the participants are retirees, others are folks who’ve received food bank assistance and want to give back, and some are lifelong activists. Whether its phone banking or door-to-door canvassing, the NC APRI is working hard to make sure voters exercise the franchise in this election. If you live in the Raleigh area and would like to help, contact Mary Montford, President, at 919-833-6671.
The best to all the people who are participating in the phone banks. I know this is a hard, thankless job, that must be done to get out the vote. Voters sometime forget you are on their side, helping them get the best people in office to support their views. If they don;t vote, then they have nothing to say about they way the country is going. Again thank you and keep up the great job you are doing.
