The answer to hunger is in the bag!
Food insecurity remains a serious problem in North Carolina, but people working together in their union, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), will help “Stamp Out Hunger” across the nation in the 25th year of the largest one-day food drive in America, Saturday, May 13, 2017.
Last year letter carriers collected 80.1 million pounds of food – 1.5 billion pounds total since 1992 – in over 10,000 communities, helping to put millions of meals on the tables of Americans in need.
What: Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger nationwide food drive
When: Saturday, May 13, 2017
Where: Mailboxes everywhere in America
Here’s how it works
To take part in the Stamp Out Hunger food drive, leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods – such as canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, peanut butter, rice or cereal – next to your mailbox by 9 AM on Saturday, May 13. The nation’s 175,000 letter carriers will collect these food donations as they deliver the mail and take them to a local food bank or hunger-relief organization.
