NC Justice Center has the info you need
The North Carolina Justice Center is conducting a series of workshops across North Carolina to empower workers with the knowledge they need to protect their rights, especially in times of economic crisis like these. The two-hour workshops are designed to:
- Review the various rights and protections workers have fought for and can use to improve their conditions and what agencies and organizations can assist them; and
- Discuss much needed additional legislation to create worker and family friendly policies in North Carolina.

With most of our states reeling from the impact of high unemployment and budget cuts, workers are both fearful about the future and sometimes reluctant to assert their rights. The situation in North Carolina is no different after conservative lawmakers passed a budget that created $188 million in tax reductions for the wealthy and corporations and is likely to cause the loss of nearly 30,000 jobs and $1.2 billion in reduced wages.
Now is the time to make sure that all North Carolinians are fully aware of the hard-won rights and protections that we still have and to prepare for campaigns in the future to expand those rights to include those things that will improve the nature of our jobs, the quality of life for our families and the overall well being of the residents of our state.
The times demand rigorous and widespread worker’s rights training and the North Carolina Justice Center is doing its part to make sure that as many people as possible understand their rights. We are providing education on these issues and more as well as information on where people can get help.
