Delegates from AFL-CIO unions and councils representing workers from every economic sector across North Carolina are expected to attend our 2012 state convention in Raleigh, where they will get energized and mobilize for the final push in our Labor 2012 campaign to re-elect President Barack Obama, to keep radical right-wing rubber stamp Pat McCrory from moving into our Governor's mansion, and to elect candidates up and down the ballot who value work and condemn greed.

What: 2012 state AFL-CIO convention
When: Thursday-Friday, September 13-14

J. David Cox to keynote P.R. Latta Awards dinner

National AFGE Secretary-Treasurer, J. David Cox, will deliver the keynote address to delegates and guests at our annual P.R. Latta Awards dinner. J. David, who is also a Vice President of our state AFL-CIO, delivers a barn-burner of a speech, so you will not want to miss it!

Deadlines loom for hotel, registration

We have negotiated deep discounts for sleeping room rentals at the site of our convention this year, the Hilton North Raleigh/Midtown. These discounts are only available to delegates and guests who place reservations by the hotel deadline, August 12.

For the first time, we are offering a ten percent Early Bird discount on our already-low convention registration fees. Early birds must meet the pre-registration deadline, August 17, in order qualify. Convention credentials and payments for Early Bird registration should be postmarked no later than August 17. Delegates and guests who register after August 17 or on-site will pay the full price.

We mailed convention credentials/registration forms last month to every AFL-CIO affiliate in North Carolina. If you have yet to receive your credential/registration packet - or if you have any questions or need more information about our state convention, please contact our office ASAP at 919-833-6678.
