The program will feature a showing of a 1912 silent film The Cry of the Children. David Zonderman, labor historian at N.C. State University, will lead a discussion after the showing of the controversial 1912 silent film, which depicts the hardships of child textile workers. The film includes real footage of children working in mills.

The Cry of the Children was released in April 1912, two months after 25,000 textile workers walked off the job at the American Woolen Company in Lawrence, MA. The film was produced during the Lawrence strike and features some scenes that were filmed in an actual working mill.
