UPDATED with RAIN location!

The rally on Thursday will happen rain or shine, BUT if it does rain, we have an alternate location to tell you about which is just around the corner from the Social Security Administration office.

In case of rain, our rally to Say "No" to Working 'Til We Die will be held inside Millbrook United Methodist Church, 1712 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC.

Millbrook United Methodist Church is the first left past the Social Security Office at the light (Millbrook Rd) when driving North on Old Wake Forest Rd.

Hands off Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid

Members of Congress are back home in their districts during the Easter recess to meet with constituents and attend special events. Rep. Brad Miller (D-13th) will spend part of his Easter recess rallying with us to defend Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

WHAT: Rally to say "NO" to politicians who want us to work until we die
WHEN: Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 12 Noon
WHERE: Social Security Building, 4701 Old Wake Forest Road, Raleigh NC 27609
RSVP:Click here to RSVP on the Facebook page for this event

Recently, U.S. House Republicans - including newly elected Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-2nd) - voted to pass a budget that would destroy Medicare as we know it by turning the guaranteed health care for our nation's seniors into a prepaid coupon (AKA a voucher) for folks to buy their own private insurance. The GOP budget plan would also turn Medicaid into a block grant and threatens Social Security.

Our message to Congress is this: Don't make us work 'til we die!

Politicians in Washington are working to end Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid as we know them.  They want to cut Social Security and raise the retirement age.  The House of Representatives just passed a budget that would turn Medicare over to the insurance companies and slash funding for Medicaid, the program that serves lower-income seniors, woman, children, and people with disabilities.

We're going to stop these outrages from happening.  On April 28, join Congressman Brad Miller and others in Raleigh who are standing up against these attacks.  We will demand: "Don't Make Us Work 'Til We Die.  Hands off Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid."

Together, we will fight these vicious attempts to cut Social Security, put Medicare beneficiaries at the mercy of the insurance companies, and slash Medicaid funding for seniors, woman, children, and people with disabilities.

The NC State AFL-CIO is proud to stand with our partners from Action NC and elsewhere in this call to action to save Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
