Reach out to help workers win on Nov. 4th!

AFL_CIO_Door_knocking_2008

Walk the walk and talk the talk

Join your union brothers and sisters between now and Election Day on phone banks and neighborhood walks as we reach out to other union members and their families across North Carolina with a powerful message – dollars can’t vote, only people can! If workers stand with each other and we vote together in this election, no amount of money or voter suppression can stop us from reclaiming this state from the extremists who think they rule it!

Four years ago in 2010, too many people who voted for hope and change in 2008 skipped the midterm election and let an angry minority elect extremist politicians who took over our state legislature, where they redrew district lines to hold power.

Two years ago in 2012, those extremist politicians tightened their grip on our General Assembly and captured the Governor’s mansion. We know what happened next.

Speaker Thom Tillis, Senator Phil Berger, and Governor McCrory quickly cut unemployment benefits and public education, blocked Medicaid expansion to half a million people, hiked taxes on workers only to cut them for the wealthy, passed laws making it harder for workers to vote and easier for bosses to buy elections, and they arrested almost a thousand citizens with the courage to oppose their immoral agenda.

In 2014, we cannot afford to sit out another midterm election. It is imperative that we begin to reverse the decline of North Carolina by electing more candidates who will stand with working people!

Can we count on you to help us reach out to your union brothers and sisters about the importance of voting in this election?

Come out wherever you are to join us in the last two weeks before E-Day for a phone-to-phone and door-to-door mobilization blitz that – with your help – can turn the tide this year away from the forces of organized greed and fear and toward hope for working people and our future!

Below is a list, divided by zone, of every opportunity you have between now and Election Day to be the difference between defeat and victory for candidates running with the union label:
