RALEIGH, N.C. (August 17, 2016) – Today in North Carolina, the AFL-CIO will launch a petition drive and social media push asking Senator Richard Burr to renounce Donald Trump. The petition language states that Donald Trump is dangerous, divisive and unfit to be president – and yet Senator Richard Burr is still supporting him.
“Donald Trump and Senator Burr are two peas in a pod. They both oppose raising wages for working people and restoring the Voting Rights Act. Trump and Burr will create economic instability for North Carolina’s working people. It seems like Senator Burr is choosing Trump over the working people of North Carolina. That is why the North Carolina AFL-CIO will do everything in November to defeat Trump and Burr,” said NC State AFL-CIO secretary-treasurer MaryBe McMillan.
