Republican candidate for POTUS writes off half the nation
This week Mother Jones published explosive, secretly recorded video of Mitt Romney talking to a group of big-money donors at a $50,000 a plate fundraiser in Florida back in May. In the video, Mitt Romney describes almost half the country as moochers who “pay no income tax”, think of themselves as “victims”, and are “dependent upon government” before declaring:
“My job is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”
Mother Jones posted the full video in two parts, which you can watch here.
Mitt’s lament about unions
In addition to writing off 47% of the country, Mitt Romney had a lot more to tell his private audience about trashing the Middle East peace process, mocking immigration, joking that he’s “poor as a church mouse”, and cracking jokes about Latino voters.
But it’s what he had to say about unions that caught our attention. In the full video released by Mother Jones, Romney told donors that unions would keep him as President of the United States from firing as many workers as he’d like.
Responding to a donor who told him to “clean house” if elected President, Mitt Romney said this:
“I wish we weren’t unionized so we could go a lot deeper than you’re actually allowed to go, but we can find a way.”
