The North Carolina Alliance for Retired Americans is a chapter of the nationwide grassroots organization that advocates on behalf of America’s seniors. The NC Alliance is committed to advancing public policy that protects the health, economic security, and civil rights of all senior Americans.
A coalition of AFL-CIO affiliated unions and a broad array of community-based organizations created the Alliance for Retired Americans in 2001 and the NC Alliance in 2003. The Alliance unites retirees who are committed to one common goal: building the most effective organization to advocate for seniors at the local, state, and national levels.
The NC ARA provides an opportunity to work with retirees and other like-minded folks to make a difference in policies affecting seniors.
The NC Alliance fights for:
- Affordable and accessible prescription drugs
- Health care that seniors can depend on through Medicare
- Social Security that provides guaranteed benefits and protects families for life
