Twitter Power Academy: FREE Intro Webinar Jan. 10th

We will be hosting a “Twitter Power Academy” next year to train organizers on how to use Twitter to build coalitions against attacks on working people from state lawmakers, Congress, and the White House. Through seven sessions facilitated by Social Movement Technologies, participants will be equipped with tools to shape news coverage, recruit influential allies to our causes, and hold elected officials accountable.

Workers’ Forum Convenes to Discuss Making Durham a “Union Town”

On December 7th in Durham, fast food workers from Raise Up for $15, home care workers from the local We Dream in Black chapter of the National Domestic Workers Alliance, members of Triangle Labor Council affiliated unions, and people who work at Duke University and elsewhere joined Bull City community partners to discuss a proposal for the new Durham City Council to form a Workers’ Rights Commission.

The Trump Administration's U.S. Department of Labor (!) is pushing a new rule that will let bosses take tip money collected by service industry workers and keep it -- essentially legalizing wage theft in that industry.

The Trump Administration has taken sides in the war on unions by asking the Supreme Court to overrule a 40-year precedent allowing public employees be required to pay their fair share of what it costs their union to negotiate and enforce their own collectively negotiated contract.

Center for Responsible Lending just published "The State of For-Profit Colleges," which includes an interactive map and 50 state fact sheets showing the harms for-profit colleges inflict on working people pursuing higher education -- particularly low-income students, students of color, and women.
