As if McDonald’s couldn’t get lower than paying poverty-level wages
On March 13, workers in 3 states filed a historic class action lawsuit against McDonald’s revealing that McDonald’s, one of the largest corporations in the world, has been committing rampant wage theft against its employees by forcing workers to work off the clock, not paying workers for overtime, or forcing workers to pay back register shortages out-of-pocket.
On Tuesday, local McDonald’s workers will be coming forward to tell their own stories of having their wages stolen, on top of struggling to survive on poverty wages. Though fast food companies make billions of dollars each year, most only pay most workers the federal minimum of $7.25. In addition, workers have reported that wage theft is rampant throughout the fast food industry.

Workers across the U.S. are standing up and speaking out to put an end to wage theft, and calling on McDonald’s to raise wages, and recognize their union. Earlier this month, McDonald’s reported that because of the strikes and speak outs by workers — and the support they’ve received from the community — that they will likely have to raise wages. Now is the time to keep the pressure on!
