Charlotte Construction Workers to Call for Action by Council to Address Industry Abuses

Study exposes the dark side of Queen City contractors’ booming business

(Charlotte, NC) -- Workers, community, faith, and labor groups will hold a press conference at Charlotte City hall on Monday, June 26th to urge council to pass a policy that encourage developers to disclose their contractors employment practices. Who: Local construction workers impacted by industry abuses; Jackie Cornejo, Partnership for Working Families; Alexis Gonzalez, Justice and Respect in the Reinforcing Industry Coalition (JRRIC); Kevin Hernandez, Latin American Coalition; Scott Thrower, IBEW Local 379; NC State AFL-CIO; Action NC; Workers Defense Project

What: Press conference to urge Charlotte City Council to protect workers

When: Monday, June 26 at 6:00 PM

Where: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center (UPDATE: plaza side), 600 E. 4th street, Charlotte, NC 28202
