Elections, re-elections, and resolutions

Almost 220 delegates representing local unions, councils, and constituency groups across North Carolina and their guests gathered in Wilmington last week for our state AFL-CIO's 56th Annual Convention, where delegates elected a new Executive Board, re-elected both state officers, and adopted a dozen resolutions to help chart our work.

Convention delegates also adopted 12 resolutions to help guide the work of North Carolina's unions over the coming year. Read the 2013 Convention Resolutions as adopted. We screened several videos throughout the program this year, including special video greetings by national AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Liz Shuler. In her video, Shuler told state AFL-CIO convention delegates that North Carolina has been showing the nation what the power of solidarity can do in the face of incredible challenges. "People fighting for justice never gets old. It's always the path to the future," Shuler said. "Thank you for demonstrating that powerful truth for our movement."
